Water Main Project to Impact Traffic Near Fairmont and Orchard Park

Montgomery County will be replacing a water main on Shroyer Road that will necessitate the temporary closing of the road while the work is being done. Because of the location of the project, traffic flow in and out of Fairmont High School and Orchard Park Elementary School will be impacted, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times.

Beginning on September 6, a portion of Shroyer Road from Dorothy Lane to Fairmont High School will be closed.

Lewiston Road, west of Shroyer Road, will be closed at the Lewiston-Shroyer road intersection during this project. Motorists will only be able to make a right turn to northbound Shroyer Road from both Lewiston Road and Cushing Avenue. There will be no left-turn or straight-across options for motorists. In addition, motorists traveling southbound on Shroyer Road will not be able to make left turns onto Lewiston Road or Cushing Avenue.

During high-volume time periods, in particular, during dismissal time at the high school, the county will have flaggers in place to assist with traffic flow and getting the buses out of the north lot at Fairmont High School as efficiently as possible.

Orchard Park parents may want to keep in mind that it is anticipated that there will be an increase in cut-through traffic on Cushing Avenue east of Shroyer Road, particularly during dismissal time at Fairmont High School.

For additional information, please click here to go to the City of Kettering's website, where you will find more details about the project.
