As counselor’s at Kettering Middle School, we are here to help students with any social, emotional, or personal problems that are preventing them from learning. This is done through individual and group counseling, intervention meetings, and referrals to community resources.
In addition to helping students learn, we also make their schedule (and make mandated changes), coordinate all of their standardized testing, provide character guidance lessons as needed, consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, & parents, and respond to a school crisis or emergency situations.
A student may see their counselor by filling out a self-referral form in the office or also at the request of a parent, administrator, staff member or friend.
Please contact us to let us know how we can help your child perform their best here at KetteringMiddle School.
Susie Moses - 6th grade
Kelly Zecchini - 7th grade
Myrna Hernandez - 8th grade
Individual counseling referrals are provided by teachers, parents, administrators, or the individual student. If a student would like to self-refer, they can stop by the office and fill out a referral form and place it in the counselor’s mailbox. Once the referral is received, the student will be pulled from class at an appropriate time.
Topics we can help students with:
- New students issues
- Study skills
- Behavior issues
- Anger Management
All topics are kept confidential unless the student is at harm or danger or is about to cause harm or danger to another individual. When confidentiality is to be broken, information can be released, but not limited to, the superintendent, principal, teacher, parent, law enforcement officials, child protection services, etc. Please keep in mind that a school counselor is not a therapist, but a problem solver. If you would like your child to receive counseling therapy, we can recommend several different counseling therapists.
If you would like to refer your child for counseling, please call or email your child’s counselor.
