'Calamity Day' Procedures

Winter Brings Snowmen!

upon the weather forecast for that day. If there is a need to delay or close school, the following procedures will be followed:

Delays:

The Kettering City Schools typically delay school for a period of two hours when the forecast indicates that weather conditions will improve through the morning. If school is delayed for two hours, school will begin at the following times:

Fairmont High School – 9:50 a.m.
Middle Schools  --  10:40 a.m.
Elementary Schools (grades 1-5) – 10:15 a.m.

Plan “B” Kindergarten:

*  Students in the “AM” (morning) Kindergarten program will go to class from 10:15 to11:50 a.m.  Transported students will be picked up two hours later than their regularly scheduled pick-up                 time. Students will be dropped off at their regular bus stop, one hour later than their regularly scheduled drop-off time.

*  Students in the “PM” (afternoon) Kindergarten program will go to class from 12:55 to 2:30 p.m. Transported students will be picked up one hour later than their regularly scheduled pick-                    up time. Students will be dropped off at their regular bus stop at the   regularly scheduled drop-off time.

Integrated Preschool Programs:

*  Morning preschool is CANCELLED
*  Afternoon preschool will begin at 12:15 p.m.

Pathfinders Preschool:

*  Morning preschool is CANCELLED
*  Afternoon preschool begins at 12:15 p.m.

Preschool Promise  --  Preschool begins at 10 a.m.

KECEC:  Preschool begins at 10 a.m.

There will be NO BEFORE-SCHOOL CHILDCARE when there is a 2-hour delay

Closings:

All classes for students on Pre-K-12 are cancelled.

There will be NO CHILDCARE provided when school is cancelled.

Notification Process:

1.         Listen to the local television stations -- WHIO Channel 7, WDTN Channel 2 and ABC22/Fox 45 for announcements.

2.         Check the homepage of the district’s website at www.ketteringschools.org.

3.         Sign up for text messages and/or email notifications from the “Sign up for Notifications” section of the website (located in left-hand column of the home page at                                                            www.ketteringschools.org.)

4.         Sign up for phone calls and/or text messages at https://tec.kettering.k12.oh.us/tec/cpcl/community

5.         Check the district Facebook page: Kettering City Schools.

6.         Follow the Kettering City Schools’ Twitter feed: KetteringSchools

7.         Call the Education Connection at 643-4444. Follow prompts -- “For Kettering School District Information, press 4.” Then, “For Delays, Closings and Early Dismissals, press 3.”
