Lori Simms has been a resident of Kettering for 16 years and a member of the Kettering Board of Education since 2004.
She is the proud parent of six children, two of whom are Kettering Fairmont High School graduates, one who will be a freshman at Fairmont for the 2007-08 school year, one who will be a student at Van Buren Middle School and her two youngest, who will be students at Southdale Elementary School.
In addition to her service on the Board of Education, Lori is a very involved volunteer in the Kettering Schools. At Southdale Elementary, she has served for six years as chairperson of the Ways and Means Committee and has served on the Hospitality Committee, the Fifth-Grade Farewell Committee and the Teacher Appreciation Committee.
She has served as chairperson of the Teacher Appreciation Committee and the Box Tops for Education Committee at Van Buren Middle School and is a member of the PTO and a past president of Parent Pact for Smart Choices at Fairmont High School. Lori's extensive community volunteer work extends beyond the schools and includes service to the Junior League of Dayton, where she has served on the Executive Board, chaired the Public Relations Committee and served as Hospitality Chairperson for the Town Hall Lecture Series.
She also served as past president of the Women's Club for the Home Builder's Association of Dayton and was a member of the 10th Anniversary Committee of the Dayton Peace Accords and the first-ever Dayton Literary Peace Prize, awarded in 2006.
Lori currently serves as the Board of Education representative on Partners for Healthy Youth and on the Gala Committee for the 60th Anniversary of the Dayton Council on World Affairs.
Lori attended the University of Alabama and the University of Cincinnati and is currently enrolled at the University of Dayton, where she is pursuing a degree in industrial psychology.
Lori enjoys music, travel, cooking and sport-fishing.
