George Bayless has been a member of the Kettering Board of Education since 2001.

The Bayless family moved to Van Buren Township in 1949, when George entered Van Buren Junior High School (now Van Buren Middle School) as a seventh grader. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1955 and received his bachelor's degree from Denison University in 1959.

George and his wife, Charlene, have two daughters, Rebecca, a graduate of Fairmont West High School; and Laura, a graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School.

George worked for Gem City Building & Loan Association (later Gem City Savings Association) until it was acquired by National City Bank in 1990. He served as purchasing officer for National City Bank until his retirement in 1998.

George's extensive community service includes membership in the Sertoma Club of Dayton, the Presidents Club of Dayton, the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association and the Kettering Arts Council. George has also served as president of Kettering Holiday at Home and represented the city of Kettering as a delegate on the board of the Miami Valley Regional Transit Authority from 1994 to 1999. He currently serves as a representative of the city of Kettering with the Miami Valley Communications Council.
