My Parents, siblings & I, as well as my son are graduates of Kettering City Schools too. My dad’s oldest brother (Uncle UD) plowed and planted the practice and game athletic fields of Fairmont until the school was built 1958-9. I served KCS as athletic trainer from 1987-1996 on those same fields. Prior to coming back home to Kettering, I was the assistant athletic trainer at Oakwood High School from 1983-1985. I left to go to Miami University as an athletic trainer graduate assistant in recreational sports for 1986-87.
I anticipated becoming a teacher in Oakwood after working with Roger Pack and the teachers for 2 years (1987-89) but life again turned me back home. I took my regular teaching contract with Kettering in summer of 1989. I taught elementary physical education (6 years at Southdale!!). I then began to teach health & physical education at Fairmont for 12 years. I am currently teaching physical education full time at Van Buren.
Both my parents began their junior high-high school career at Van Buren - Barnes, then to the newly opened Fairmont. My mom was the first graduating class of Fairmont West and my dad was the second. Funny how life twists and turns you around so you almost end up where you really began.
