Welcome to my web page...  On the linked class pages (left), you can find out what we are currently doing in class (see blog entries) or just click here for environmental science or here for integrated science.   This is a great place to see what you missed if your a student and are absent, please print the assignment and do it if the assignment is linked.  Turn in any missed work as soon as you can (so you can catch up and keep your grade up).

Please check out the class syllabus under "GENERAL INFORMATION".

*Kappel's Home Solar Array: Up to the minute real life stats directly from Kappel's roof and historical energy production data.  I produce over 100% of my household electricity using 27 pannels on my roof. Goto: https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/pv/public_systems/f4vW80049

*Ohio Energy Project: We have been participating in this for the past 6 years, its a great program sponsored by DP&L and Vectren, basically they give me great teaching aids and give each student a packet of home energy saving devices (if you installed all of it you can save over $500).  We also train a group of 15 students to teach 5th and 6th graders about energy and energy conservation at the Energy Fair (U.D.).  Goto: http://www.ohioenergy.org/

Here is a link to the home installation survey, students are asked to fillout a survey telling which products they installed.  We need 90% participation or we won't be able to participate next year.  Its really quick and easy. Once you click on the link, choose "Kettering City Schools", then choose "Kettering Fairmont High School", then choose "Rick Kappel", then enter password "Kappel".   Goto: http://www.ohioenergy.org/students-and-families/home-installation-survey

*Ecyber Mission:  My Integrated Science classes will be participating in a free competition called Ecybermission Challenge.  See website for more information: http://www.ecybermission.com/
