My name is Lindsay Gustafson. I am in my 16th year teaching here at Kettering Middle School. I teach Art in the South Unit. I have students from 6th and 8th grade. I am originally from a south suburb of Chicago but relocated to Dayton when I decided to attend college at the University of Dayton. I graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from UD in 2002 with a degree in Art Education and a minor in Art History. I have always known that I wanted to teach art, having decided on this career as an 8th grader! I finished Graduate school at Antioch University in June 2006 with a masters in Educational Leadership! I am looking to go back to get another degree in multi-handicapped education at some point also.
I have a jack russell named Marley and an adorable cat named Lucy.! In the little free time that I have I enjoy creating my own art work, traveling, reading, going to concerts and playing with my animals! I also play a lot of tennis! I LOVE to travel! I have been to over 12 different countries or islands, including parts of Europe and even Japan! My art usually focuses on the things that are going on in my life or the inequalities that our world is faced with daily. I have many favorite artists including classics like Van Gogh and Dali, but also more modern artists, including photographer Nick Nixon!
In college I won awards for my Photo work, including a large cyanotype quilt made to show the summer that I spent in Europe. I have also exhibited my art in a number of local shows and galleries. As this is getting lengthy I want to leave you with my Art room motto, "Anyone can create a masterpiece, it simply takes practice and patience!"
