Hello Parents and Students of Kettering!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our school district's website.  My name is Brent Goheen and I am one of the teachers at Van Buren Middle School (Team 6A).  I have been teaching in Kettering for the past 20 years.   Kettering Middle School was my first teaching assignment.  I taught Science there for seven years before coming to VBMS to teach Math.

I grew up near Kettering  playing baseball and football at FKAL and basketball at the YMCA.  I am the youngest of six children so it was great to always have someone to compete against.  After graduating from high school, I attended Ohio University where I met my wife who is also a teacher (Mrs. Goheen at Oakview is my sister-in-law in case you were wondering).  My wife and I have three children ranging in ages from 8 to 16.

My degree at Ohio University was in Public Administration and Political Science with a minor in Business.  After working in the private sector for two years in Atlanta, Georgia, I returned to Ohio in order to attend WSU.  At Wright State, I was able to earn my teaching credentials and Master's in Elementary Education.

My wife and I married in the summer of 1997.  We are your typical busy family but in my free time, I love to ride my bike, travel, hike trails, and watch or coach my kids in all of their sports.

Thanks again for visiting our site.  Please be sure to check out the helpful links in the top left corner of this page.  I look forward to working with you and your child in order to build upon his/her educational foundation.

Sincerely,

Brent Goheen
