Hello. My name is Tom Saylor and I teach seventh grade social studies (Team 7B).  You can find out additional information on our team and the school if you visit  the districts's web page.  From there, look  under "Van Buren Middle School".

I have been teaching 7th grade social studies at Van Buren since 1997.  The curriculum is "Ancient Civilations" and spans such topics from the Ancient Greeks and Romans to the early years of European exploration and colonization.  Further information on the 7th grade social studies standards can be found on the ODE web site.

The online tool, "Progress Book", is a fantastic service available to students and parents that allows them to check and monitor such things as grades, homework, and upcoming events.

Team 7B is a great group of teachers and friends who work hard to care for the needs of your child.  Van Buren is a great place to work and learn.  It's such a  privilege to be able to work and teach in the same building that I attended as a Junior High student when it was Van Buren Junior High School.  Growing up in Kettering and living here half my life as been a great learning experience.

The school offers a wide variety of clubs, activities, sports, and organizations that are certainly going to meet the needs and wants of our students and parents.

If you wish to find out more information about Kettering City Schools, please visit the Kettering City Schools website.  You may also email or call the school during working hours throughout the active school year.  Thanks for visiting and we hope you choose Van Buren has you child's new home.

Sincerely,

Thomas Saylor
