Contact Info:

Hello and Welcome to room 307, Mrs. Kappel & Mrs. Hanchak's homeroom. That's right, two teachers!

I am Mrs. Kappel and I job-share with Mrs. Hanchak here at Beavertown in 4th grade. We want there to be an open, two-way street for communication with the parents of our students. Below are some ways you can contact us:

Phone: 499-1740
* You can leave us a voicemail at anytime and we will get back with you as soon as possible.

Email:
Mrs. Kappel --- emily.kappel@ketteringschools.org
Mrs. Hanchak--- jessica.hanchak@ketteringschools.org
* This is the best way to contact us. It also makes sharing any needed information with other teachers very easy.

Notes: You can send a note to us in your child's agenda or to school with them at any time.

Remind: This is a great tool that 3/5 teachers in the country are using to send quick messages to parents. You can sign up to get messages through text messages or email. Please let me know if you need our class information to get quick messages from us.

Have a great school year!

Mrs. Kappel

I have been teaching in the Kettering City Schools for the past 13 years, going on 14.  I taught two years of Algebra I at Fairmont High School and have been in 4th grade at Beavertown Elementary for the last 11. Mrs. Hanchak and I have been job-sharing for 10 of those years I've been in fourth grade.

I have specialized in teaching math over the years and throughly enjoy teaching various math strategies and mathematical freedom to the students of Beavertown. I have been a part of the district's Math Specialist group and in my time off of work I help train other teachers on various math topics around the country.

I look forward to working with students and teachers each year to discover that math is flexible and students should discover concepts, but be shown them. I want students to own their learning. I want students to show me multiple ways to solve a problem. I want students to leave my classroom with a lowered math anxiety and a new appreciation for mathematics in their daily lives.
