Hi and welcome to JFK! I am the Title 1 Lead Teacher, and I provide reading support to grades K-5.

I began teaching preK at Tot Lot in Kettering in 1990, and began teaching at JFK, 3rd grade, in 1995. I have taught both 2nd and 3rd here in Kettering. I became a curriculum leader for language arts and social studies at central office in 2009 and enjoyed that position for 8 years, but ultimately I missed being in the classroom with kids. I returned to JFK in 2017.

I hold a Master's Degree in Teaching and a K-8 Ohio Teaching License. I am also certified Level 1 in Wilson Reading and am a presenter/coach for Fundations grade 1. I am also a building/district coach for INFOhio, a safe website that is full of free resources for all Kettering teachers, families and students, grades preK - 12. Go to www.infohio.org, see me or your child's teacher for the district username and password. Another site for families to learn more about reading and writing is at www.readingrockets.org.

I enjoy playing golf, gardening, bicycling and especially my grandchildren in my off hours.

Feel free to contact me at michele.massa@ketteringschools.org, or at JFK 499-1830. I'm happy to talk reading and writing with you. They are my educational passions and my goal is to make all students lifelong readers and learners!
