Mrs. Debbie Huber          8 Silver Language Arts            Junior Optimist Co-Advisor

Welcome to our Team Silver Language Arts and introductory French classroom!  As a Fairmont High School (and Van Buren) graduate, I am excited at the opportunity to give back to this school district of excellence!  I received my undergraduate degree from Xavier University (go Muskies!!) in Cincinnati and my Master's in Education-Middle School Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies- from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.  I work from the philosophy that all children can learn, but all children must also take a responsible role of ownership in their education.  I hope to inspire life-long readers and learners!

8th grade is such an exciting time as students prepare to leave middle school and enter their freshman year of high school.  We have a great deal of work to do before their freshman year.  Our Language Arts class will focus on reading comprehension in both literary and informational text, grammar and writing, as well as public speaking and communication skills.  Students will learn not only French vocabulary, but also the customs and cultures of the country of France and French speaking countries around the world.  All classes students will be working on critical thinking skills, preparing to enter high school as learners who question, investigate, research, problem solve, and become creators of real-world solutions.

I ask parents and students to check Power School regularly to be aware of grades and the status of assignments.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns about your student.  Additionally, students can also contact me with any questions about homework or other assignments through their GMAIL accounts.  I look forward to an exciting 2017-2018 school year!  Go Firebirds class of 2021!!

         Sincerely,

          Mrs. Debbie Huber
