Kayak Race 2014

Friday, Sept. 19, was a beautiful day for a boat race!  After weeks of designing and testing scale models, the 8th grade Integrated Science students of Van Buren Middle School met at Lincoln Park to race their kayaks across the fountain.  Coming in first at 28 seconds (!) were "The Pirates":  Lucy (driver), Jenna, and Tristan.  In second place at 38 seconds was "The Shrek":  Daniel (driver), Gavin, and Gabe.  Close behind in third place at 42 seconds was "Heart of Gold":  Elli  (driver), Ava, and Katie.

Mr. Doug Callinan and Mrs. Jill Spurlin wish to thank the Kettering Parks and Rec Department for supporting this annual STEM project.  See you next year!

Prospective Student Open House

As Kettering non-public eighth graders begin to explore their high school options, we would like to take this opportunity to invite them to a special, Kettering Fairmont High School Open House.

In Kettering, we are blessed to have great public and private schools. Our goal is to give students and parents accurate information to make the best decision for each family. We are offering two Open House dates to choose from:  October 24th from 9-11 a.m. and/or October 30th from 7-9 p.m. in Fairmont’s Recital Hall.

This event is intended for Kettering residents who have attended Private Schools. We will have an 8th Grade Parent night in the spring for our Van Buren and KMS students.
