What is the KMS PTO?

A group of caring parents and teachers who collaborate to promote the education and well-being of KMS students.

Reasons why to join the PTO…

  1. Research has shown that students perform better in school when their parents are involved.
  2. You become part of a network of parents and teachers, which leads to better communication with your child’s teachers, principal, etc.
  3. PTO assists in creating a supportive and encouraging school environment.
  4. It is a great connection with the school. You will be the first to hear about upcoming school changes or decisions.
  5. You are a role model for your child and their friends. By helping with the PTO, you are showing that you value education.
  6. It is flexible…volunteer as much or as little as you can. 
  7. You can make a difference by sharing your skills.
  8. It is fun and you get to meet other parents.

 

Ways to Help PTO

  1. Become a member for $5 per adult.
  2. Attend a meeting or two or more. It is not a requirement to attend any meetings, if you become a member.
  3. Volunteer to help at PTO events: socials, Honor Roll Doughnuts, book fair, socials, etc.  We need volunteers to make the events possible.
  4. Partake in Dining for $$$ nights. These are passive fundraisers scheduled with area restaurants.
    Yummy dinner/treat nights = Percentage of sales given to KMS PTO.
  5. Support our only major fundraiser, KMS PTO Raise-A-Thon, held September 21. Students who collect pledges are eligible to play in a volleyball tournament for fun. There are prizes for the overall top earner, each top unit earner as well. Students contributing $5 or more will be entered in a drawing for fun prizes. Bonus: There is no merchandise to sell or deliver. A huge thank you to the following for their prize donations...Cleveland Cavaliers, Dayton Dragons, Dewey's Pizza, Graeter's Ice Cream, Laser Web, Louisville Slugger Museum, Perfect North Slope, Sky Zone, UD Bookstore, and more.

AUGUST

August 3 - September 2
Spirit Wear Sale
All spirit wear orders can only be placed at the Twin Designs website. On September 2, the website will close at 11:59 PM and cease taking orders. All orders will be mailed or ready for pick up from Twin Designs ten days after the website closes. The spirit wear includes sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and dri-fit tees. A few samples will be available at the open houses. Please see attachment for additional details.

Raise-A-Thon Fundraiser

We are excited to streamline our fundraiser by going online with 99Pledges. You will now be able to reach out to friends and family by email, Facebook, and Twitter, instead of going door-to-door, tracking commitments, and handling checks.

To add your child as a participant, please follow these 3 easy steps:

  1. Go to this link - www.99pledges.com/fund/ketteringm1/addme
  2. Enter your child’s name, enter your email(s), and select the group your child belongs to.
  3. Click “Add” > this will take you to your newly created pledge page!

All you have to do is make a donation for whatever amount you can, and share your child’s pledge page link with friends and family. We are shooting for 100% participation so no amount is too small.

Membership Drive

Please use the Membership Form link to sign up. Dues are $5 per adult with a KMS child or grandchild and may be (1) mailed to KMS PTO, 3000 Glengarry Drive, Kettering, OH 45440 (2) returned to your child's advisory teacher or unit secretary in the form of cash or check written to the KMS PTO. Also, please remember to clearly write your name on the envelope. Please print the attached membership form if you prefer to submit a paper form. After the membership drive ends, a prize drawing for members will take place. Winners will be mailed their prizes, or prizes will be sent home with their students.

KMS PTO Fundraiser

Students collect donations from August 15 through September 14 and participate in the Four Corner Volleyball Tournament.
There will be prizes for the overall earner, each unit’s top earner, and a drawing of fun prizes
for students donating $5 or more.

Project Read Book Drive begins and runs through the end of October. Book bins will be
in each unit for families and staff to donate used or new books.
