 Welcome to my page!

My name is Miss Mittelkamp.I am currently teaching the STEM class for Kettering Middle School using the curriculum from Project Lead the Way.  I'm really excited to be teaching this class!

I graduated from Bluffton University in 2006 with a degree in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in Math, Science, and Reading.  I received my Masters in Educational Technology from Kent State University in 2020.

I have previously taught 4th grade at Beavertown Elementary and Southdale Elementary.  I was a 6th grade science teacher for 2 years before taking a year off.  Then I was the 6th grade reading lab teacher for 2 years before moving into my current position as the Project Lead the Way teacher.

In 2011 I took a year off teaching in Kettering and spent the year in Tanzania, Africa homeschooling a missionary student and teaching English to a few of the locals.  I even learned how to speak Swahili while I was there!  It was a great experience that has made me a better and more committed teacher.

In 7th grade PLTW we work on 3D modeling and the Design Process that engineers use.  We get to create and print something on one of the 3D printers that I am honored to have in my classroom!  In 8th grade we focus on building and programming robots with a final project being a drag race with dragster that are built from scratch and programmed directly by the students!
