Bill Lautar has called Kettering "home" for more than 65 years. A public school educator for almost 40 years, Bill held a number of different positions while working in Kettering, including coach, building administrator and central office administrator, both at the junior high level and at Fairmont High School. He finished out his career with the Kettering City Schools as the district's Director of Student Services. Bill has been recognized for his service and contributions to the Kettering Schools through his induction into the Chester A. Roush Educational Hall of Fame in 2019.
Bill received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and his master's degree from the University of Dayton. He has long been active in the Kettering community. He has served on the Board of Directors for the South YMCA, both as a board member and as president. Bill is also a long-time member of the DorWood Optimist Club, and currently serves on its Board of Directors. He is a member of the Kettering Education Foundation Advisory Board and is a member of the Fairmont Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.
In addition to these activities, Bill served for eight years as a member of the Kettering City Council. He is currently the co-chair of the City's Strategic Planning Steering Committee and volunteers at a local food pantry.
Bill and his wife Julie, a special education teacher for 35 years, are the proud parents of four children, all Fairmont grads, and are members of the St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
