Community Relations
The Kettering City School District is committed to open, honest, and thorough communication between the district and the community.

Coordinating this communication is the main responsibility of the Kettering City School District's Community Relations Office. Whether it's producing the district community newsletter, "The Blue Ribbon Report," planning for community events at the different school buildings; coordinating cable television programs; working with the local news media; keeping in touch via social media; or simply answering questions; the Community Relations Office strives to keep our publics as informed as possible about the Kettering Schools.

About Kettering City Schools

We are extremely proud of the academic, co-curricular and extracurricular programs that we offer to the students who attend our eight elementary schools, our two middle schools and our high school.

The Kettering City School District prides itself on offering a strong academic program to our students. The young people at our middle and high schools have an opportunity to choose from more than 200 course offerings, including gifted, honors and Advanced Placement classes. Fairmont High School is also an International Baccalaureate World School, offering students the IB Diploma Programme, as well as individual IB courses.

Likewise, our elementary school program offers students a challenging and enriching curriculum that includes -- in addition to the traditional academic offerings -- strong music, art, physical education and computer education programs.

For the 11th year in a row, Kettering has been named a "Best Communities for Music Education" by the NAMM Foundation, recognizing the strong support our school music programs consistently receive from our community. In addition to the strong athletic, music and other extracurricular opportunities offered by the Kettering City School District, we are fortunate to be part of a community with a strong Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.

In addition, the James S. Trent Arena, located on the Kettering Fairmont High School Campus, offers Kettering residents access to a year-round indoor walking/jogging track, and the Kettering Fitness & Wellness Center -- located adjacent to the Trent Arena -- is a full-service center that provides members access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment and certified fitness and wellness professionals.

Calamity Day Notifications

The district makes every attempt to communicate with our families in a timely manner when we have to delay or close school because of bad weather through our district webpage and Facebook page (Kettering City Schools.)

Parents/Guardians/Students can also opt-in to receive notifications when school is delayed or closed via text messages and phone calls.

The district uses The Education Connection to call and/or text when there is a school delay or closing.  Parents/guardians/students MUST OPT-IN EACH SCHOOL YEAR using this link to receive these types of notifications.
