Future-Ready Facilities Plan
Building the Future Together…
The success of the Kettering City School District’s bond issue paves the way for the district’s ambitious, 10-year, two-segment Future-Ready Facilities Master Plan. This plan addresses the challenges of our aging infrastructure—with buildings currently between 60 and 77 years old—by replacing them with brand-new, fully accessible, and modernized learning environments.
Through a strategic partnership with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), the district will leverage approximately $159 million in state co-funding. This allows us to "right-size" our operations and ensure that every local dollar invested delivers long-term educational value.
The successful bond issue of May 5, 2026, will fund Segment One of the district’s Future-Ready Facilities Master Plan. This segment includes:
- New Middle School: Construction of a single, unified middle school on the Fairmont High School campus to serve all students in grades 6-8.
- Fairmont High School Upgrades: Construction of a new academic wing at Fairmont High School to provide collaborative, experiential learning spaces.
- Elementary Maintenance: Dedicated funding to ensure all current elementary buildings remain "warm, safe, and dry" throughout this phase.
The KCS Future-Ready Facilities Master Plan is more than just a construction project; it is a commitment to providing modern, innovative spaces that support 21st-century learning, technology, and student success for generations of Firebirds to come.
