Dayton Dream Center's on-site showers, clothing, and laundry ministry. The laundry facility is equipped with 3 commercial washers and dryers, shower rooms, and a clothing area stocked with men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and shoes. Days of Operation are Tuesdays 12 - 430 PM, Wednesdays 10 AM - 1:30 PM, Thursdays 12 - 4:30 PM (by appointment only). Guests can schedule an appointment for Suds N Duds services in person or over the phone. Schedule an appointment by coming to the DC throughout the week and/or giving them a call.

Daybreak’s emergency shelter program is designed to offer immediate support and assistance to young individuals (ages 10 to 21) who are experiencing homelessness or facing unstable living situations. Some key features of the emergency shelter program: safe and welcoming space, 24/7 staff availability, basic needs support such as food, clothing, and hygiene items, case management services, and collaborative partnerships.

St. Vincent de Paul operates the only 24/7 emergency shelters in the Dayton area for the general population: one for men, and one for women and families. The shelters provide each person with a place to sleep, three meals daily, clothing, personal care items, showers, mail, and message services, and access to housing-focused case managers.

The Glen at St. Joseph
The Glen at St. Joseph is a residential program for single mothers and their young children, offering a safe space for moms to plan their futures with the support of life coaches. While pursuing a certificate or degree, mothers prepare for careers that will support their families, while their children attend a nearby 5-star early learning center. The program typically lasts two years and is for single moms aged 18-30 with custody of children under 5 years old.

Through the City of Kettering Community Development Block Grant Program, the City sponsors a housing rehabilitation program to assist income eligible homeowners to make necessary repairs offering both low-interest and deferred loans. This comprehensive program includes specialized assistance for: emergency repairs to address immediate health and safety concerns, accessibility modifications for residents with disabilities, general home improvements such as heating, plumbing and electrical systems, roof replacement, windows, doors and insulation.
Air Quality Improvement Grant (AQI) helps qualified homeowners upgrade their HVAC systems to create healthier indoor environments, addressing air quality concerns that can impact resident health.
Lead Safe Ohio Grant (LSO) provides free home repairs to address lead-based paint hazards in homes built before 1978. The program covers improvements such as window and door replacement, siding repairs and other mitigation measures, with priority given to homes with children under 6 years old.

Habitat’s Critical Home Repair program helps families maintain and stay in their homes, and contributes to neighborhood stabilization and revitalization. Repairs can be interior or exterior work performed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations, including a change to or repair of materials or components.

MVCAP’s Home Weatherization Assistance Program lowers energy costs while making homes safer and more comfortable.
MVCAP's Emergency Home Repair Program gives priority to emergency conditions presenting an imminent danger to the health and safety of the occupants in order to correct substandard, unsanitary or deteriorated conditions.

NeighborCare offers year-round support by providing critical home repairs and accessibility modifications by skilled tradespeople throughout the year at no cost to homeowners. NeighborCare assists low-income senior homeowners in Montgomery County. To be eligible, the property must be owner-occupied and current on property taxes, and the homeowner must be faced with a critical need for home repairs or accessibility modifications.
Seasonal Safe@Home is focused on a specific initiative that drives the four focus areas:

CityHeart offers compassionate response to urgent needs of the homeless, low-income, and marginalized, and makes connections to resources for long term solutions.
Internet
Rent a mobile hotspot from the Dayton Metro Library.
Access from AT&T provides low-cost internet service for eligible households. Includes Wi-Fi & installation, with no equipment fees, no deposit, and no annual contract.
Spectrum Internet Assist provides qualified household with affordable internet plans.
Lifeline Support is a federal program dedicated to making phone and internet service more affordable for low-income households. This benefit provides eligible consumers with a monthly discount of up to $9.25.
T-Mobile's Project 10Million is an initiative aimed at delivering Internet connectivity to millions of underserved student households. For eligible students, the program offers free Internet and free mobile hotspots

Miami Valley Community Action Partnership has several programs that can help with utility costs including: HEAP, PIPP, and the Summer/Winter Crisis Programs.
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that provides eligible Ohioans assistance with their home energy bills. This one-time benefit is applied directly to the customer’s utility bill or bulk fuel bill.
The Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) helps eligible Ohioans manage their energy bills year- round. Payments are based on a percentage of household income and are consistent year-round.
The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides a one-time benefit to eligible Ohioans with cooling assistance during the summer months. The program runs from July 1 to September 30.
The Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program (HEAP Winter Crisis Program) helps income eligible Ohioans that are threatened with disconnection, have been disconnected, need to establish new service, need to pay to transfer service, have PIPP default, need to pay first PIPP, or have 25% (or less) supply of bulk fuel in their tank maintain their utility service. The program runs from November 1 until March 31.

Miami Valley Community Action Partnership has partnered with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to serve Montgomery County residents at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Covered services include utility assistance, rent assistance, mortgage assistance, property taxes, disaster assistance, car repairs, transportation, license reinstatement, legal fees, and GED fees.

St. Vincent de Paul Conferences
The Conferences of St. Vincent de Paul are a group of volunteers (typically associated with a Catholic parish or school) that offers person-to-person support to neighbors in need of assistance. They may provide help with utility bills, rent, medicine, food, clothing, household items, and furniture. Visit the website to contact the conference serving your area.

Receive assistance with obtaining a free copy of your birth certificate. Please bring some form of documentation to include with your request. Examples include but are not limited to: Utility Bills, W-2 Forms, Bank Statement, ID card or Driver's License (even if it has recently expired), School Record, Public Assistance Benefits Statement, Court Documents.
State Identification Card
As of April 7, 2023, Ohioans who are 17 years and older can receive an ID card at no cost by visiting their local BMV office.

Child Care Choice Voucher Program
The Child Care Choice Voucher is available for families who are over income for the state’s Publicly Funded Child Care (Title XX) and whose gross monthly income is at or below 146% - 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). This voucher program is part of a larger initiative focused on increasing access to quality child care and financial support services for families towards child care costs.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for Children is a disability benefit for low income families who have a child with a disability as defined by Social Security criteria. Children need to be under age 18 or under 22 and a student regularly attending school.

Public Health's WIC Program safeguards the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5. WIC provides nutritious foods to supplement diets, nutrition education, and referrals to health and other social services. There are three locations in Montgomery county. All three WIC clinics welcome walk-ins and no appointments are necessary.

Ohio's Hospice offers multiple grief support programs designed to meet a variety of needs, all of their groups are open to anyone in the community who is coping with the loss of a loved one and offered free of charge. The offerings include grief support groups, social, groups, children's grief support, art-related groups, and one-on-one grief counseling sessions.

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child, sibling, or grandchild of ANY age and to provide information to help others be supportive. Moms can visit the mobile pantry once per month and the pantry serves children and their mothers up to size 4t/5t pullups. The Car Seat Safety Program through Goodwill Easter Seals provides free car seats and training for families that are economically disadvantaged. Offering the class ensures that parents and caregivers know how to properly install and use car seats, which means children stay safe.

Cribs for Kids provides WIC-eligible families and expecting mothers with a free pack ‘n play or cribette for their baby. Families will also receive important information about the ABCs of safe sleep.

The Gem City Diaper Bank assists eligible families with diapers every other month (2-month supply) until the baby/toddler is potty trained or 3 ½ years old. Families of children with disabilities are on the program until age 5.

The Dayton YMCA offers Before- and After-School Childcare Services for KCS students in each of our elementary buildings. Medicaid Managed Care Plan Transportation Benefits
Ohio Medicaid plans provide non-emergency transportation to and from covered servces as a part of their benefits. Check your plan's benefits in the Medicaid Managed Care Plan (MCP) Transportation Benefit Guide.
N.E.T Transportation
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NET) is a statewide program for Medicaid-eligible clients to provide transportation to and from Medicaid-approved medical appointments. Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services administers the program for local residents. If eligible, you can receive curb to curb services via a van/car or a bus pass.
Paratransit Program
The RTA"s Paratransit Program offers door-to-door service to customers with disabilities who are unable to use regular fixed routes. This program covers all of Montgomery County and three-fourths of a mile of fixed-route services outside Montgomery County. Paratransit services are available upon completion of an application and certification assessment through the RTA Certification Center.

Dayton Children's Kinship Navigator
Dayton Children’s Kinship Navigator program aims to empower and stabilize kinship families so children in kinship care can thrive. A community health worker (CHW) serves as a trusted support to the patients and families in the Dayton region by providing support, facilitating access to services, and navigating systems. They also build individual and community resiliency by increasing health knowledge, improving the quality and cultural competence of service delivery, and promoting self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, social support, and advocacy.
Kinship Caregivers Connect
Kinship Caregivers Connect: KCC is an online and statewide support group for kinship caregivers in Ohio, meeting twice weekly on Zoom to share resources and experiences with each other.
Kinship Caregiver Resource Guide
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has created a resource booklet to provide kinship caregivers with information and ideas about: meeting the child's needs, common problems, services that can help, applying for benefits, and making decisions about legal issues.
Ohio Grandparent/Kinship Coalition
The Ohio Grandparent/Kinship Coalition (OGKC) is a statewide 501(c)(3) organization which provides monthly zoom meetings, information, and networking for caregivers taking care of children other than their own when the parents are unable to care for them.
Ohio KAN Kinship and Adoption Navigator
OhioKAN is a statewide program designed to help kinship and adoptive families navigate and connect with all available resources, locally and statewide.
Seeds of Hope
Based in Troy, Seeds of Hope was born out of the need to support and encourage Miami Valley families that care for foster, adoptive, and kinship children, providing much needed items/supplies, support events, advocacy, and education.
