Message from Kettering City Schools Superintendent

Since the initial announcement was made to close Ohio school buildings in March, Kettering Schools has been preparing for this possibility.

While we are sad that we will not get to see our students in our buildings again this school year, the health and safety of our students, teachers, staff and our entire community has always been our top priority. Our teachers are ready to continue remote learning and continue providing opportunities for our students to keep growing and learning. Kettering Schools will also continue to offer our Grab-and-Go Meal Program to children ages 18 and younger. Details on this program can be found on our website at www.ketteringschools.org under the COVID-19 Updates under News and Announcements.

The end of the school year is a time of celebration. For some students and families like our seniors and those transitioning to middle or high school, the end of this school year marks the end of a chapter and the start of a new one. These celebrations are important and our principals will be sharing details in the coming weeks on how we will honor these milestones and safely celebrate our students.

The Kettering Schools staff is overwhelmed by the support our community has shown to them and to our students during this time. It truly is a display of what we have always known - Kettering is a strong community and a special place to be. Thank you! Thank you for your patience and for your encouragement to our students and staff as they learn new ways of doing things in this new season E-Learning.

We are looking forward to returning to school safely. School will likely look different when we return and we will be working to implement new ways to maintain health and safety in our buildings as we plan for the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to update you as we create our plan to safely return to school. While our staff has been able to pivot and provide E-Learning, there is no replacement for the work our teachers and students do in our classrooms and we look forward to being back together when it is deemed safe to do so.

As always please contact us through our dedicated email address at KCSCOVID-19Response@ketteringschools.org with any questions or concerns.

Stay safe and keep taking care of each other, Kettering!

Scott Inskeep
Superintendent
